From Rescue to Release – Helping OUR Wildlife in Need

https://www.facebook.com/bungalookcreekwildlifeshelter

The project is aimed at increasing the shelter’s capacity to provide gold standard care for wildlife in need and increasing enclosure safety for not only the wildlife undergoing rehabilitation but also for volunteers who help with the rehabilitation of these animals. The project is split into three components:

  • Medical care and treatment. This includes the purchase of medical consumables which are used on a regular basis to stabilise and inform treatment options for vulnerable animals.
  • Specialist animal rescue equipment which includes capture nets and humane live capture traps and storage for cages when not in use to free up vital internal floor space.
  • The construction of new enclosures, maintenance of existing enclosures and upgrades to safety of the shelter area for both animals and humans

The generosity of the Tucker Foundation has allowed the shelter to increase our capacity, not only in construction of more usable space but also in allowing the purchase of essential equipment to aid our volunteer rescuers. The new bat aviary and wombat pens have already been well utilized, not only by bats and wombats but a variety of species such as wallabies and possums.

We cannot thank the Tucker Foundation enough.
