Online Learning Support for Afghan refugees in Indonesia

The project seeks to enhance student and teacher access to essential technology for education – in particular laptops for teachers and data bundles for students. The restrictions of the coronavirus pandemic have meant that all educational activities have moved online. This is particularly challenging as many of the refugee teachers and students don’t have access to computers or tablets – many are using mobile phones to teach and learn. The cost of data is also a barrier for students and teachers. Refugees in Indonesia do not have the right to work or run small businesses and so rely on support from family around the world – who are invariably on low incomes themselves. This project will enable education to remain accessible to refugees living in extremely difficult circumstances.
