FOCUS – The Preshil Lens
Focus – The Preshil Lens is a collaborative photography project bringing together current students and alumni from Preshil, The Margaret Lyttle Memorial School. It invites participants to explore personal, social, and cultural themes through photography, celebrating the school’s creative legacy and fostering new connections, between generations across generation.
Students will take part in workshops and presentations led by professional alumni photographers, offering inspiration, skill development, and insight into photographic practice. Current students and Alumni from Preshil will contribute their work, adding depth and dialogue to a conclusive exhibition.
Participants will experiment with a range of techniques, from digital to analogue photography. Preshil’s darkroom will be available for film-based work, and a new professional-grade printer will be acquired to develop exhibition standard photographic prints and professional print collateral. This equipment will become a lasting resource for future creative projects.
Students will visit established Art Museums and institutions in Melbourne and Victoria to experience contemporary photography and storytelling through art firsthand and broaden their artistic perspectives.
The project will culminate in a public exhibition at Heide Museum of Modern Art, curated to showcase the diverse work of students and alumni. The exhibition will celebrate Preshil’s rich artistic heritage and its ongoing spirit of curiosity, expression, connection and milieu.
