Protecting & Rehabilitating Precious and Under-Protected Daintree Rainforest Flora & Fauna: Stronger Than Ever Before
http://www.rainforestrescue.org.au
Planting of 1,000 more rainforest seedlings to regenerate damaged Daintree rainforest habitat to re-build these safe wildlife corridors. The many steps that go into planting a tree, from seed collection all the way to 10 steps later, lovingly caring for these trees for two years until nature takes over this role – is detailed best by the Tree Planting Cycle graphic uploaded to this Application. Additionally, a contribution towards the continuation of an eco-friendly, sustainable pest management program at this Native Nursery by introducing beneficial insects as a natural alternative to chemical pesticides and preserving native plant species crucial to the biodiversity of our rainforest ecosystems. Traditional pesticides, while effective in controlling pests, pose significant risks to the environment, non-target species, and human health. In a nursery dedicated to native plants, the use of chemicals can have long-lasting negative effects on the delicate ecosystems we strive to protect and restore.
